The Illinois Premise Alert Program Act became law in 2009. This Act is to ensure that consistently high levels of public safety services are available to all members of the State of Illinois, including people who may require special consideration in order to access services. This program shall seek to afford people with disabilities and/or special needs the same level of public safety services while alerting public safety responders to individuals with special needs.
If you live or work within the Village of Barrington Hills and complete a Premise Alert Program form about your disability or special needs, your information will be placed on file with our dispatch center. This vital information will enable emergency personnel to recognize that your call for assistance may require special handling.
If you have a family member or relative that you would like to enroll in the Premise Alert Program, please download the form and return it to the Department. If you have questions about this program, please contact the Department by telephone at the below listed number.
For the purposes of the Premise Alert Program “disability” and “special needs individual” are defined as:
- “Disability” means an individual’s physical or mental impairment substantially limits one or more of the major life activities; a record of such impairment; or when the individual is regarded as having such an impairment.
- “Special needs individuals” means those individuals who have or are at increased risk for a chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition and who also require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by individuals generally.
